Blue Collar & Hard Work, Equals Real Estate Reality!
I didn’t grow up with a trust fund or a portfolio handed down through generations. I’m a working mom who jumped into the world of landlording on accident. My story isn’t about effortless success; it’s about the raw, unfiltered reality of building a community for those of us who are learning as we go. If I can navigate these waters, you can too.
Rental Reality: No Filter
We never set out to be landlords. Not even a little.
In 2018, my husband Tim was delivering uniforms for a living and I was working a sales job, just trying to keep up with life, bills, and everything in between. Real estate investing wasn’t on our radar. We had no savings , no investors backing us, no mentors and definitely no blueprint.
Then an opportunity landed in our laps, an offer to buy an eight-unit apartment building in little ole Cresson, Pennsylvania. A tiny town with a population of just a couple thousand people. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t turnkey. And it certainly wasn’t something we felt “ready” for.
But we said yes anyway.
We jumped into this crazy adventure with no money, no experience, no time and very few skills that actually translated to owning a rental property. What we did have was determination, a willingness to learn the hard way and a shared belief that sometimes you figure things out after you take the leap.
This blog is the story of how two people who never imagined being landlords ended up building something from nothing — learning as we go, making mistakes, working late nights and slowly realizing that this accidental path into real estate was changing our lives.
No guru talk. No overnight success stories. Just the real, messy, honest journey of figuring it out one property at a time.
